YEW EXTRACTS - A POSSIBLE SOURCE OF BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS WITH POTENTIAL ALLELOPATHIC PROPERTIES

Representative species of the Taxus genus, known since antiquity for their toxicity, have been an essential plant resource production extracts with medicinal properties (anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial) and, more recently, study allelopathic significant implications in organic agriculture (bioherbicidal potential). With a view to development this new direction research, present work aims: qualitative evaluation two types (aqueous alcoholic) different concentrations (1% 5%) obtained from various organs (bark, leaves, arils, seeds) belonging three taxa: spontaneous taxa - baccata L. (T1) cultivated (T2) 'Robusta' (T3) at times phenological cycle by determining absorption spectra (of both extracts), total amounts polyphenols flavonoids, evaluating antioxidant capacity (alcoholic extracts); investigate, under experimental conditions cultivation possible effects induced aqueous on germination seedlings test species: Amaranthus retroflexus (ruderal species) Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, variety Silvia (crop species). The data indicates presence phenolic compounds, alkaloids, carotenoid pigments alcoholic prepared studied yew taxa, showing higher flavonoids leaves taxon T2 compared T1. effect 1% 5% bark investigated as well T3 seed seedling growth was pronounced crop Silvia, ruderal broadleaf weed L., having rapid stimulated ambient light.
